Project Collaborators
Cell immunotherapy of tumors will be introduced in cooperation with collaborative clinical institutions such as the Children's Hospital Zagreb, University Hospital Center Zagreb, Sisters of Charity Hospital, University Hospital Merkur, University Hospital Center Split, and University Clinical Center Ljubljana. We hope that other clinical centers will join our project in the future.
CAR T-cell therapy will be initiated with a new generation of vectors generated by the Caring Cross in Gaithersburg (Maryland, USA). We plan to organize the production of cellular preparations at the Department of Traumatology, Sisters of Charity Hospital, and quality control at the Department of Traumatology and Foundation. In contrast, the selection of patients, application of cellular preparations, and further monitoring of patients would take place at collaborative clinical institutions. The Foundation will research and develop new forms of immunotherapy in collaboration with the Department of Biotechnology University of Rijeka and other collaborative research institutions at home and abroad.
Since we have the necessary knowledge and skills, as well as the clean room required for cell therapy production, it is likely that the first patients could be treated with these forms of treatment once the needed funds are raised through donations. The introduction of cell-based cancer therapies would make a huge step forward in treating metastatic forms of cancer resistant to the standard treatments.
