Samo Zver

Samo Zver completed his medical study at the University of Ljubljana. He then completed his internal medicine residency and became a “specialist of internal medicine” and later a “specialist of hematology.” He also received additional training in the hematology unit at King’s College Hospital in London, UK (Prof. Ghulam Mufti). He is the head of the Hematology clinic at the University Clinical Center (UCC) and a professor of Internal medicine and hematology at the University medical faculty in Ljubljana, Slovenia. He is responsible for a hematology class at the Medical faculty in Ljubljana and established a separate “Blood” class in the fifth year of study.

Samo is an active member of the Slovenian medical chamber and acts as the coordinator for all Slovenian residents of hematology. In recent years, he primarily works on acute leukemia and bone marrow transplant patients at the UCC acute leukemia and bone-marrow (BMT) unit. He also deals with multiple myeloma, chronic lymphoid leukemia (CLL), non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), hemostasis, and Gaucher disease. His main preoccupation nowadays is establishing CAR T-cell therapy in Slovenia.
